History

Midoribashi Station opened on 29 July 1968 as an intermediate station on Line 4 (the Chūō Line) when the line was extended from Morinomiya to Fukaebashi. It remained a single-line station until 24 December 2006, when Osaka Municipal Subway Line 8 (the Imazatosuji Line) opened and Midoribashi became a transfer hub. Both lines have an island platform serving two tracks; a passageway with a moving walkway connects them. Platform-edge doors entered service on the Chūō Line on 1 August 2024. The station passed to Osaka Metro on 1 April 2018.

Notes

For 23 months from the 1968 opening until the demise of the Osaka Municipal Trolleybus in June 1970, Midoribashi was the only Osaka subway station that also connected to a trolleybus route.
