History
Port Terminal Station opened on 5 February 1981 as a station on Kobe New Transit's Port Island Line. It serves the international ferry and cruise-ship terminal at the Port of Kobe. The station closed in the immediate aftermath of the 17 January 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake and reopened on 31 July 1995 with the rest of the Sannomiya–Naka-Kōen section. When rapid service was introduced on 2 February 2006, Port Terminal became a station that rapid services pass through. Elevators and a multipurpose lavatory were installed on 18 March 2016. The single island-platform structure is elevated and rests on a 56-per-mille gradient toward the Port Island bridge.
