History
Amagatsuji Station opened on 1 April 1921 as a station on the Osaka Electric Tramway Unebi Line, the predecessor of the present Kintetsu Kashihara Line. Following the 1941 merger that created the Kansai Express Railway and the further 1944 consolidation that produced Kintetsu, the station joined that operator's network. The station was rebuilt with an underground concourse in 2000, although the platforms themselves remain at grade. Located in the city of Nara 1.6 km from the line's origin at Yamato-Saidaiji, it consists of two opposed four-car side platforms with separate east and west ticket gates and is now unstaffed. Tōshōdai-ji and Kikō-ji temples lie within walking distance.
