History
Kibitsu Station opened on 15 November 1904 with the opening of the Chugoku Railway's Kibi Line in Okayama Prefecture. The Chugoku Railway's operations were nationalised on 1 June 1944, and the station passed to JR West with the JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987. Two ground-level opposed side platforms are linked by a level crossing, the station is unstaffed, and a simple ICOCA gate has been in service since 2007. The station serves Kibitsu Shrine, one of the principal shrines of Bitchu Province.
