History

Kamisawa Station opened on 17 June 1983 on the Kobe Municipal Subway's Seishin-Yamate Line, with an island platform on the second basement beneath the residential streets of Hyōgo Ward. It was knocked out of service by the Great Hanshin earthquake on 17 January 1995; through services on the line resumed on 16 February but bypassed the station until full operations restarted on 31 March. With the lowest ridership on the Seishin-Yamate Line, the station's quiet platforms have served as filming locations for productions including the 2001 film "Go" and 2005's "The Negotiator: Mashita Masayoshi."
