History
Ōmoto Station opened on 12 June 1910 as Shikada Station on what is now the JR West Uno Line. On 6 March 1925 it was moved to its present site and renamed Ōmoto Station. From 1 August 1951 until 30 December 1984 it doubled as a terminus of the privately operated Okayama Rinkō Railway, which connected the station to the harbour district. With the 1987 privatisation of Japan National Railways the site became part of JR West. The station now consists of two elevated side platforms with the staffed station building beneath, including a Midori no Madoguchi reserved-ticket office. It serves both the Uno Line and Seto-Ōhashi Line in Kita-ku, Okayama.
