History

Higashi-Tengachaya Station (HN04) is a Hankai Tramway Uemachi Line tram stop in Abeno-ku, Osaka. It opened in October 1910 with the original Nankai Uemachi Line. The line went to Kinki Nippon Railway in the June 1944 wartime merger, returned to Nankai Electric Railway in June 1947, and was separated to the current Hankai Tramway in December 1980. The stop sits on a dedicated alignment with two staggered side platforms either side of Seimei-dōri. Despite being a tram stop on a residential street, it anchors a small Higashi-Tengachaya-ekimae shopping street.

Notes

Although Higashi-Tengachaya is a Uemachi Line tram stop in a residential pocket of Abeno, it is the namesake of a small but established 'Higashi-Tengachaya-ekimae' shopping street running east of the stop along the old Kumano-kaidō.
