History
Senzai Station, in the city of Tenri in Nara Prefecture, opened on 7 February 1915 as part of the Tenri Light Railway line linking Shin-Hōryūji and Tenri. Osaka Electric Tramway acquired the route in 1921 and re-gauged and electrified it the following year. Successive 1941 and 1944 mergers placed the station under the Kansai Express Railway and then Kintetsu, which still operates it as part of the Tenri Line. The Nikaidō–Tenri segment that includes the station was double-tracked in 1988, PiTaPa was introduced in 2007, and the station became unstaffed in late 2021.
