Abiko-michi Station

我孫子道

History

Abiko-michi Station (HN15) is a Hankai Tramway Hankai Line tram stop in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, and is the operational boundary between the Osaka City and Sakai City sections of the line. It opened on 1 December 1911 with the original Hankai Electric Tramway. After successive transfers to Nankai Railway (1915), Kinki Nippon Railway (June 1944), Nankai Electric Railway (June 1947) and the present second-generation Hankai Tramway (December 1980), the stop became Hankai's principal crew-change point: most Tennōji-Ekimae – Hamadera-ekimae runs swap crews here. The 4 July 2009 timetable revision flipped the through-running pattern so that Uemachi-Line trains now run all the way to Hamadera-ekimae and Ebisu-chō-bound trams terminate here.

Notes

Abiko-michi is the boundary between the Osaka City and Sakai City portions of the Hankai Line, and is also Hankai's principal crew-change stop — most Tennōji-Ekimae to Hamadera-ekimae trams swap drivers here.
