History

Kyūjōmae Station (MR1) is on the Mizushima Rinkai Railway Mizushima Main Line in Shijūse, Kurashiki, Okayama. Construction of the platform began on 19 April 1949 and the station opened a month later on 20 May 1949. Ownership passed to Kurashiki Municipal Transportation Bureau on 1 April 1952 when Kurashiki City took over from the Mizushima Industrial City Development corporation, and then to the Mizushima Rinkai Railway on 1 April 1970. In 1982 the station was relocated 0.5 km toward Kurashiki-shi from its original site near the old National Route 2 (now Route 429). The station has a single ground-level side platform, is unstaffed, and has no station building or waiting room beyond a small roof over part of the platform.

Notes

The station name comes from the Kurashiki Municipal Baseball Stadium in Kurashiki Sports Park — but the original wooden hardball stadium has since been replaced by a softball ground, and high-level baseball in Kurashiki is now hosted at the Mascat Stadium served by JR's Nakashō Station on the San'yō Line.
