History
Ibaraichi Station opened on 28 April 1915 with the inauguration of the Geibi Railway, which was nationalised in July 1937. Freight handling ended in 1960, the station was downgraded to commissioned operation in 1971 and added to the JNR "Hiroshima Municipal" fare zone in 1973. Parcel handling stopped in 1984, and the station became fully unstaffed in April 1986. JR West inherited the station at privatisation in April 1987. Service was suspended by the July 2018 floods; demolition of the 104-year-old wooden station building began in February 2019, and provisional service between Miyoshi and Naka-Sanda resumed that April.

Notes
Although the station is named "Ibaraichi" (Ibara City), the actual city of Ibara lies far to the east — the name comes from the local district of Ibara in Hiroshima, and the station is in fact Hiroshima City’s northernmost and easternmost stop in the JR "Hiroshima Municipal" fare zone.
