History

Kashiwara-minamiguchi Station is on the Kintetsu Dōmyōji Line in Kashiwara, Osaka Prefecture. Kashiwara, in the Naka-Kawachi area of Osaka Prefecture, is a commuter city roughly 20 km from central Osaka that received city status on 1 October 1958. The Yamato River flows through the centre of the municipality and meets the Ishikawa River near the city hall, and the area has been known since the Edo period for viticulture (the cultivation of grapes) — Kashiwara remains a hub for grape farming and for "Kawachi wine" and "Kashiwara wine" production.

Notes

The Dōmyōji Line takes its name from the 1615 Battle of Dōmyōji during the Siege of Osaka — the Kashiwara article records that Tokugawa forces advanced through Kameno-se into the modern Kokubu district of Kashiwara to engage the Toyotomi side, and memorial monuments for soldiers from both armies still stand in the city.
