History

Daishōji Station (HN22) is a Hankai Tramway Hankai Line tram stop in Sakai-ku, Sakai, at the intersection of the historic Daishōji east-west axis between Sakai (Nankai) and Sakai-higashi (Nankai Kōya) stations. It opened on 1 December 1911 with the original Hankai Electric Tramway. The line was successively transferred to Nankai Railway (1915), Kinki Nippon Railway (June 1944), Nankai Electric Railway (June 1947), and the present Hankai Tramway (December 1980). The platform shelter was destroyed by Typhoon Jebi (Typhoon 21) on 4 September 2018.
