History

Tode Station opened on 21 July 1914 as the Tode Stop on the privately-built Ryōbi Light Railway, the predecessor of the Fukuen Line. It was elevated to a full station on 12 January 1925 and came under the Railways Ministry when the line was nationalised in 1933. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it became a JR West station. The site formerly had two opposed side platforms but now operates with a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with the remnants of the abandoned platform still in situ. A concrete waiting room was added in February 2021.
