History

Kasanui Station opened on 21 March 1923 on the Osaka Electric Tramway Unebi Line, the predecessor of today's Kintetsu Kashihara Line, when the route was extended between Hirahata and the original Kashihara-jingū-mae. Through wartime consolidations the operator became Kansai Express Railway in 1941 and Kintetsu in 1944. The station building is on the platform 2 side, with a level-platform crossing converted to an underground passage; a side gate retained on platform 1 at residents' request is opened only during weekday rush hours. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007, and the station was made fully unattended on 1 October 2021.

Notes

The side ticket gate on platform 1 was kept by local residents' request after the underground concourse was built; it now opens only on weekday mornings, doubling as the station's wheelchair-accessible route.
