History
Mizushima Station is the principal stop on the Mizushima Main Line in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, operated by the Mizushima Rinkai Railway. The line was originally a private industrial railway built in July 1943 to serve the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mizushima Aircraft Plant; the predecessor of this station opened as Okayama Kojo Station. Passenger service began on 20 August 1948, when the station took its present name. In 1952 the line and station passed to the Kurashiki Municipal Transportation Bureau, and on 1 April 1970 to the Mizushima Rinkai Railway. The station was elevated in September 1992.
