History
Nakamita Station opened on 28 April 1915 along the line of the private Geibi Railway, in what is now Asakita-ku, Hiroshima. The Geibi Railway was nationalised on 1 July 1937, becoming the Ministry of Railways' Geibi Line. Freight handling ended on 1 June 1960 and parcel handling on 8 March 1983, when the station was reduced to a simple contracted unstaffed operation. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR West. The July 2018 western Japan flooding suspended service; the section between Miyoshi and Nakamita reopened on 4 April 2019, with full restoration through to Karuga following on 23 October 2019.
