History
Ise-Okitsu Station opened on 5 December 1935 as a Japanese Government Railways stop on what is now the Meishō Line, in present-day Tsu, Mie Prefecture. Freight service was discontinued in October 1965 and station staffing was withdrawn on 1 April 1986. The station passed to JR Central with the division and privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, and its building was rebuilt in 2005. Between 8 October 2009 and 26 March 2016 the line beyond the station was closed after damage from Typhoon Melor, with replacement buses substituting for trains.

Notes
During the seven-year closure caused by Typhoon Melor, the Meishō Line beyond Ise-Okitsu was reached only by substitute bus until rail service finally returned in March 2016.
