History

Unebigoryōmae Station opened on 21 March 1923 as Unebiyama Station when the Osaka Electric Tramway's Unebi Line (now the Kintetsu Kashihara Line) was extended from Hirahata to the first Kashiharajingū-mae. It was renamed Unebiyama (畝傍山駅) in November 1924, then Jinmugoryōmae in March 1937, and reached its current name on 28 July 1939 when the Yagi-Nishiguchi to Kashiharajingū-mae section was rerouted onto a new alignment that placed the station at its present site. Following the 1941 Kansai Express Railway merger and the 1944 formation of Kintetsu, the line passed to its current operator. The station name refers to the tomb of the legendary Emperor Jimmu, situated about 700 meters to the west.
