History

Asama Station opened on 1 March 1970 in the city of Ise, Mie Prefecture, when the Kintetsu Toba Line was extended between Isuzugawa and Toba. Located 4.9 km from the line's starting point at Ujiyamada, it sits on the southern slope of Mount Asama and serves a small trailhead community. The track was double-tracked toward Isuzugawa on 11 April 1975 and toward Toba on 20 December 1975, at which point the original passing loop was removed. The station became unstaffed on 1 April 1998, and PiTaPa IC card acceptance began on 1 April 2007. The two embanked side platforms are reached directly by stairs from the road; no station building remains.

Notes

The 5.7 km gap between Asama and Ike-no-Ura is the longest distance between adjacent stations across the combined Yamada, Toba, and Shima lines.
