History

Yasuhigashi Station opened on 20 August 1994 as part of the inaugural Astram Line in Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima. It carries the secondary name "Yasuda Joshi Daigaku-mae" after the adjacent Yasuda Women's University. Operations were contracted out in 2000. Express service introduced on 20 March 1999 bypassed the station; that pattern ended on 20 March 2004 when express trains were abolished and every train again stopped there. PASPY was accepted from 8 August 2009. The station is built around an elevated island platform serving two tracks, with the concourse and ticket gates one level below. Its station colour is light blue.
