History

Bishamondai Station opened on 20 August 1994 in Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima, as part of the inaugural Astram Line operated by Hiroshima Rapid Transit. Station operations were contracted out in 2000. The line's express services, introduced on 20 March 1999, bypassed the station; their abolition on 20 March 2004 restored all-stop calling. PASPY support began on 8 August 2009, and platform announcements and departure displays were upgraded in 2015 to match Shin-Hakushima's. The station has an elevated island platform serving two tracks; ticket gates and machines sit on the same level as the platform, an unusual arrangement reflecting the pedestrian deck linking the line with the surrounding Bishamondai housing estate.
