History
Ōbara Station opened on 20 August 1994 with the Hiroshima Rapid Transit Astram Line. From the 20 March 1999 timetable revision newly introduced express services skipped it, but the express category was discontinued on 20 March 2004 and all services have called here again since. The station became a commission-operated stop in 2003, PASPY service began on 8 August 2009, and in 2015 the platform display boards and station announcements were updated to match those at the new Shin-Hakushima Station.
