History

Izumi-Chūō Station opened on 1 April 1995 as the Semboku Rapid Railway's new terminus when the line was extended from Kōmyōike. The station was designed barrier-free from the outset, with elevators and an accessible toilet, and was selected in 2002 for the 3rd Kinki Station Hundred Selection. A relocated central gate entered service on 21 July 2019. Platform-edge doors began operating on 20 July 2024 (Track 1) and 3 August 2024 (Track 2). The station became part of Nankai Electric Railway's new Semboku Line on 1 April 2025 following the absorption of the Semboku Rapid Railway, and its station number changed from SB06 to NK92.

Notes

A 500-metre stub of track extends beyond the platforms, left in place against a long-planned extension toward Kishiwada.
