History

Fudōin-mae Station opened on 20 August 1994 with the Astram Line, Hiroshima's rubber-tyred guideway transit run by Hiroshima Rapid Transit (HRT) between central Hiroshima and Kōiki Kōen-mae. The elevated station sits on a single island platform two tracks wide above National Route 54 in Ushita-shinmachi, Higashi-ku. Express services briefly skipped the stop after their March 1999 introduction, but all trains have called again since the express category was withdrawn in March 2004. The PASPY contactless card was accepted from 8 August 2009, and platform-edge displays and announcements were updated to match the new Shin-Hakushima interchange in 2015. The secondary name "Hijiyama-Daigaku-mae" reflects the adjacent university.
