History

Katei-Saibansho-mae Station (W03) is a Hiroden Hakushima Line tram stop in Naka-ku, Hiroshima. Although the Hakushima Line itself dates from 1912 (built by the Hiroden Gas-Electric Tramway), the stop was actually opened in 1952 — at the post-war reconstruction of the line. The Hakushima Line had been suspended since the 6 August 1945 atomic bombing; the rebuilt line was relocated onto a newly-built main road, Hakushima-dōri, and a new set of stops including this one opened with it. The name comes from the neighbouring Hiroshima Family Court (Katei-Saibansho).

Notes

Although the Hakushima Line dates to 1912, the Katei-Saibansho-mae stop is a post-war creation: it only opened in 1952 when the line was rebuilt on a new alignment along Hakushima-dōri, after the 1945 atomic bombing had left the original route suspended.
