History
Kenchō-mae opened on 20 August 1994 with the rest of the Astram Line as an underground station at the north end of the Kamiyachō Shareo underground mall. It became a limited-express stop in the 20 March 1999 timetable revision; that service was withdrawn on 20 March 2004. PASPY contactless ticketing was introduced on 8 August 2009, and on 12 June 2015 the in-station broadcasts and platform departure indicators were upgraded to match those at Shin-Hakushima.

Notes
Kenchō-mae is only 300 m from the adjacent Hondōri Station and connected to it via the Kamiyachō Shareo underground mall; it is also the Astram Line's nerve centre, where all lost-and-found items are gathered and staff respond to passenger intercom calls from unattended stations across the line.
