History

Kaminogō Station opened on 23 July 1929 as Shima-Isobe Station on the Shima Electric Railway. Wartime consolidation in February 1944 merged six regional private operators into Mie Kōtsū. When Mie Kōtsū was dissolved on 1 February 1964, the station became part of the spin-off Mie Electric Railway, which was acquired by Kintetsu on 1 April 1965. The station was renamed to its present name on 1 March 1970. The current layout consists of one island platform with a small open shelter built directly on the platform; there is no station building, and the station is unattended.
