History

Takamatsu-Chikkō Station is the terminus of the Kotoden Kotohira Line and the practical terminus of the Kotoden Nagao Line, in central Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. It is operated by the private Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad and designated as stations K00 and N00. The Kawaramachi - Chikkō section opened on 26 December 1948 as a wartime replacement route after the original tram network was lost to air-raid damage; the original site once formed part of Takamatsu Castle's moat, which still runs alongside Platform 1. The station was treated as temporary until completion of the present facility, and was renamed Takamatsu-Chikkō Station on 1 January 1954. It was relocated 210 m north on 10 September 1955, and the station building was reconstructed in 2000.

Notes

Platform 1 sits directly beside a surviving stretch of Takamatsu Castle's moat — a vestige of the castle precinct that occupied the site before the line was built.
