History
Kawaramachi Station opened on 22 April 1915 as a stop on what is now Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad. It was renamed Takamatsu on 22 April 1927, then Kotoden Takamatsu in August 1941, before reverting to its original Kawaramachi name on 1 January 1954 as the prefectural capital's transport reorganised after the war. The present elevated station, integrated with the 1996 Kotoden Kawaramachi Building, brings the Kotohira, Nagao and Shido lines together and forms the terminus of both the 14.6 km Nagao Line and the 12.5 km Shido Line. Designated K02, N02 and S00, it is 32.9 km from Kotoden-Kotohira; the Shido Line platforms are physically separated from the other two lines.

Notes
The Shido Line tracks at Kawaramachi sit on a dead-headed platform across the road from the main station and are not physically connected to the Kotohira or Nagao Line tracks at all.
