History

Kumonmyō Station opened on 30 April 1912 as Ido Station (井戸駅) on the Takamatsu Electric Tramway in what is now Miki, Kagawa Prefecture. It was renamed Idogawa Station (井戸川駅) in 1915 after the neighbouring Nagao-nishi Station was closed. The 1 November 1943 merger that formed the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad placed it on the new operator's Nagao Line. The station was closed entirely on 1 March 1951 and reopened on 30 September 1952 under its present name, Kumonmyō. It is today an unstaffed single-platform halt on the Nagao Line, designated station N16.
