History
Nekasa Station opened on 1 November 1960 as an intermediate stop on the Japanese National Railways Gannichi Line, then under construction between Kawanishi and Kawayama in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Following the 1 April 1987 JNR privatisation the station passed briefly to JR West before being transferred on 25 July 1987 to the third-sector Nishikigawa Railway, which still operates it as part of the Nishikigawa Seiryū Line. The unstaffed station serves the riverside village of Negasa in Iwakuni's Mikawa district.
