History

Kōtsū Center Mae Station opened on 7 May 1999 as the newest station on the Kishigawa Line, built to serve the adjacent Wakayama Prefectural Police Traffic Center (which houses the prefecture's driver-licence testing centre). Before the station opened, the centre had been a roughly twenty-minute walk from neighbouring Okazakimae Station; after it opened, the walk shortened to about one minute. The Kishigawa Line passed from Nankai Electric Railway to its present operator, Wakayama Electric Railway, on 1 April 2006. The station consists of a single side platform with no station building, and is unattended.
