History
Miyano Station opened on 1 July 1917 on what was then the Japanese Government Railways Yamaguchi Line, serving the rural fringe of the city of Yamaguchi. Like the rest of the line, the station was absorbed into the Japanese National Railways postwar and transferred to JR West on 1 April 1987 at privatisation. The unattended station has a single island platform connected to the station building by a level crossing. It serves Yamaguchi Prefectural University, a nearby Ground Self-Defense Force training area, and Miyano elementary and junior-high schools.
