History
Yabara Station opened on 1 October 1935 when Japanese Government Railways inaugurated the section of the Yamaguchi Line between Ōtoshi and Yuda (now Yuda Onsen). Passenger operations were suspended from 11 November 1944 as part of wartime rationalisation and resumed on 10 April 1953, at which point the station was operated without staff. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West. From the 14 March 2009 timetable revision it became a stop on the Tsūkin Liner rapid service, which was withdrawn in March 2023. The station today is a single-platform halt in Yamaguchi city.
