History
Suō-Shimogō Station opened on 1935-12-20 with the extension of the Ministry of Railways' Yamaguchi Line from Ogōri (present-day Shin-Yamaguchi) to Kamigō, in what is now Ogōri-Shimogō, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Located 1.0 km from the line's start at Shin-Yamaguchi, it is a single-platform halt with no station building, accessed by an entrance at the Shin-Yamaguchi end of the platform; an automatic ticket machine sits in the platform shelter. Operations were suspended from 1944-11-11 and resumed unstaffed on 1953-04-10. JR West took over at the 1987 privatisation. The station is managed from Shin-Yamaguchi.
