History
Suō-Kubo Station opened on 1934-03-28 when the Ministry of Railways' Gantoku West Line was extended from Suō-Hanaoka to Takamizu, in what is now Kawauchi, Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi Prefecture; at the time the place lay in Kubo Village, Tsuno District. The station was reorganised onto the Sanyō Main Line's new Iwakuni - Kushigahama alignment in December 1934 and reverted to the Gantoku Line in 1944 when the Sanyō Main Line returned to its Yanai routing. Freight ended in 1961, parcels in 1982 and the station was destaffed and simply contracted from 1982-03-10. JR West took over at the 1987 privatisation. The station consists of two opposed side platforms with a footbridge.
