History
Tatsue Station opened on 1916-12-15 as an intermediate stop on the privately operated Anan Railway between Chūden and Hanoura, in what is now Tatsue-chō Kabuki, Komatsushima, Tokushima Prefecture. On 1936-07-01 the Chūden–Hanoura segment of the Anan Railway, including Tatsue, was nationalised and the station passed to Japanese Government Railways as part of the Mugi Line. Freight ended in 1970 and parcels in 1972, when the station was destaffed. JR Shikoku took over at the 1987 privatisation. The original wooden station building remained in use until 2017-12-22, when a much simpler replacement entered service. Tatsue, which carries station number M08, is the nearest station to Tatsue-ji, the 19th of the 88 temples of the Shikoku pilgrimage.
