History

Sangamori opened on 26 April 1957 in Sangamori 1-chōme, Yahata-Nishi Ward, Kitakyushu, as a station on the Chikuhō Electric Railway, with station code CK09. The station has two opposing side platforms at ground level. Some down-direction trains used to terminate here, so staff were posted; the turnback facilities were removed in September 2000 and the stop was reclassified from a full station (teishajō) to a halt (teiryūjō). A leased commercial unit and a commuter-pass sales counter are attached to the up-direction (Kurosaki-eki-mae) platform.

Notes

Sangamori carries the second-highest passenger count on the Chikuhō Electric Railway after Kurosaki-eki-mae, drawing most of its riders from the postwar housing estates built around the station in the late 1950s and 1960s.
