History
Tainohama Station opened on 3 July 1960 as a seasonal Mugi Line stop, operated by Japanese National Railways. Located in the town of Minami in Tokushima Prefecture, it sits 45.7 km from the line's starting point at Tokushima and is open only during the July–August beach season. JR Shikoku inherited the station at the 1987 JNR privatisation. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the adjacent Tai-no-Hama beach to close, and the station accordingly did not operate during the summers of 2020 through 2022; both the beach and the station reopened in July 2023. A single side platform serves a single bidirectional track; there is no station building.

Notes
The platform sits directly above Tai-no-Hama beach, with steps leading straight from the platform down to the sand — and the station closes outside the summer swimming season.
