History

Sabase Station opened on 1 October 1973 as an intermediate stop when Japanese National Railways extended the Mugi Line from Mugi to Kaifu. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR Shikoku. The station is in the coastal town of Kaiyō in Kaifu District, Tokushima Prefecture, carries the station number M25, and lies 72.0 km from the line origin at Tokushima. All trains on the line stop here. The station consists of a single side platform with no station building, only a shelter for waiting passengers, and is reached by a steep access road from the parallel National Route 55 that slopes directly up onto the platform itself.
