History

Hakozaki-Miyamae Station is a Fukuoka City Subway Hakozaki Line stop in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka. The site was originally home to a Hakata Bay Railway and Steamship Hakozaki-Miyamae halt that opened on 13 July 1924 as a temporary station and was elevated to a regular station on 11 April 1927. Successive mergers brought it under Nishitetsu in 1942; it was renamed Hakozaki-Hama on 5 March 1954 and withdrawn on 11 February 1979 with the closure of the Fukuoka City Tram. The present subway station opened on 31 January 1986, about 200 metres east of the old surface site, and was outsourced to a JR West subsidiary on 1 July 2004.

Notes

A staffed emergency entrance set up for the Hakozaki Shrine Hojoya festival was last used in 2008, but is kept in place as an evacuation route and firefighters' access.
