History
Fukuokakūkō (Fukuoka Airport) Station opened on 3 March 1993 as the eastern terminus of the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line, completing the line's extension from Hakata Station to the airport. It sits beneath the domestic-terminal apron, an arrangement that makes it the only subway station in Japan to connect directly to an airport. Routine operation was transferred from a directly staffed regime to a contracted business-outsourced station on 1 April 2018, and on 28 March 2019 a second concourse was opened on the opposite side of the platforms to serve the domestic passenger terminal alongside the original international-shuttle entrance. The station carries the line code K13.

Notes
Fukuokakūkō is the only subway station in Japan that directly serves an airport terminal — the Tokyo and Narita airport links use private railways via through-running rather than the subway itself.
