History
Ōhorikōen Station opened on 26 July 1981 on Fukuoka City Subway Line 1 (now the Airport Line), with a commemorative inauguration ceremony having been held there on 19 July 1980 to mark the start of test running. Operation was outsourced to a contractor on 1 April 2014 under Tenjin Station's management. The station has two side platforms serving two tracks. On 21 March 2019 it received Fukuoka City Subway's first-ever sub-name, 福岡市美術館口 ("Fukuoka Art Museum Entrance"), timed with the museum's renewal opening. The station code is K06.

Notes
The provisional planning name for the station was "Arato Station" (荒戸駅), and Ōhorikōen is the only stop on the 1981 Airport Line opening whose final name diverged from its design-stage placeholder.
