History

Muromi Station opened on 26 July 1981 as part of the Fukuoka City Subway's Airport Line, in Sawara-ku, Fukuoka. The station's emblem is a set of three wavy blue lines representing the nearby Muromi River, which lends the station and surrounding district their name. On 12 December 2003 Muromi was fitted with platform screen doors — the first such installation on any railway in Kyushu. Surroundings include Muromi Post Office, Muromi Kindergarten and Fukuoka Elementary School, with Route 1 of the Fukuoka Expressway running nearby.

Notes

When Muromi received platform screen doors on 12 December 2003, it became the first station in Kyushu to be fitted with them.
