History
Higashi-Shingi Station opened on 8 April 1975 as a Tosa Electric Railway (土佐電気鉄道) infill stop on the Gomen Line in the Takasu-Shingi district of Kōchi. It passed to Tosaden Kōtsū on 1 October 2014 with the operator merger. The two platforms sit diagonally across the tracks — Harimaya-bashi-bound on the east, Gomenmachi-bound on the west — with a proper safety island on the Harimaya-bashi side and only a painted white line on a road shoulder serving as the Gomenmachi-bound boarding point.

Notes
Higashi-Shingi was added as a 1975 infill — sixty-five years after the surrounding section of the Gomen Line opened in 1910. The plain Shingi stop, immediately to its west, dates back to that original 1910 opening.
