History
Hatae Station opened on 1 July 1928 as an additional stop on the private Kitakyushu Railway track in what is now Itoshima City, Fukuoka. The Kitakyushu Railway was nationalised on 1 October 1937, when Japanese Government Railways took over and designated the line as the Chikuhi Line. At the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 control passed to JR Kyushu. The station sits 10.1 km from the line's starting point at Meinohama and is served by local and weekday rapid services. It now has a single elevated island platform with the station building bridging the tracks and entrances on both sides.
