History

Kamo Station (Q4357317) opened on 3 February 2005 as a subway stop on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line in the Sawara ward of Fukuoka City. It is located in a residential and educational district and serves nearby Kamo Shrine, Fukuoka Dental College, and Fukuoka College of Health Sciences. The station's symbol is a violet catfish, chosen as a sign of the adjacent Kamo Shrine. As one of the original stations on the Nanakuma Line, it has been in continuous operation since opening, providing local subway access from the western Fukuoka suburbs into the city centre.

Notes

The station symbol is a violet catfish, a deliberate nod to the neighbouring Kamo Shrine rather than to the station name itself.
