History

Aki General Hospital Station opened on 13 March 2021 as the first new infill station added to the Tosa Kuroshio Railway's Asa Line since the line itself was inaugurated in 2002. The Council for the Revitalisation of the Gomen-Nahari Line had announced the decision to construct it on 5 December 2018, with the final station name confirmed on 18 December 2020. Located in Somei-cho, Aki city, Kōchi Prefecture, the station serves the adjacent Aki General Hospital and carries the number GN27-1. The unstaffed facility is built on an embankment and consists of one side platform north of the through track; access is provided from street level by stairs and a lift, and all trains, including rapid services, call here.

Notes

Because the station was decided after the death of mascot designer Takashi Yanase in 2013, its mascot — a nurse in a pink uniform named Aki Nurse-chan — was newly drawn by the Yanase Studio in his style, with design and statue costs totalling 3.28 million yen.
