History

Ioki Station opened on 1 July 2002 as an intermediate stop on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway's Asa (Gomen–Nahari) Line in Aki, Kōchi Prefecture. Built when most of the Asa Line was carried on tunnels and viaducts, the station was kept at grade in this section to hold construction costs down, leaving level crossings at either end of its platform. It is an unstaffed third-sector stop with a single side platform and station number GN26, and all Asa Line trains including the rapid services call here, except for those terminating at Aki.

Notes

The station's mascot "Ioki Torao-kun" is modeled on Tora-san: a 1996 entry in the Otoko wa Tsurai yo series was to have been filmed here, but production was cancelled after lead actor Kiyoshi Atsumi's death that August.
